What else?

There are hundreds of truly special long-distance trails and pilgrimages around the world. Some are for introspection, others for pushing your boundaries, and on a few - you may find yourself bonding with new lifelong friends, singing until the morning in a quaint village pub somewhere. Much like us, trails possess distinct personalities, change with seasons and it can be hard to find the right one for you. Combining vast knowledge of world’s truly special trails, innovative search and a helpful community, we exist to guide you to them, helping you to embrace a life full of beauty, challenge and connection along the way.

Seeking an approach that counters mindless consumerism, environmental degradation, and escalating inequality, we aspire to be an unconventional company that sets a new standard. Deeply concerned that we’d lost more than 60% of animal populations since 1970s, while each day over 150 animal species are going extinct, we feel responsible to do something radical about this issue. That’s why in April 2024, our community decided to donate 100% of Trekslist profits that are not reinvested back into the business to biodiversity conservation efforts.

We donate 100% of profits to biodiversity conservation efforts.

Moreover, in contrast to the leading current outdoor apps and websites that rely on their communities but give nothing back, at the end of each year we distribute 5% of revenues to our members. We want to recognise that our community members are invaluable and play an indispensable role in this endeavour, contributing to data collection, fostering a close-knit social network among members, and amplifying awareness of our mission.

We unite
as the outdoor community to support biodiversity conservation

We are spearheading a movement wherein for-profit entities serve as agents for social good and environmental justice, while community members are duly rewarded for their involvement. Looking for fresh ways to think about companies that put impact first, we are currently also in the process of reorganising legally to a Steward Owned company making our employees and community members owner-stewards of the company. It also ensures that our environmental commitment can’t be changed by misguided future management or investors.

Our Values

We share a common belief that it is our duty to protect and to preserve the natural world for future generations. This commitment is woven into every aspect of our operations. That means doing no harm to our environment or to other sentient beings. We keep our consumption habits in check by only using what we need, reusing what’s available and recycling the rest. If harm cannot be prevented, we aim to more than offset the negative impacts. This also means resisting posts and content that promote mindless consumerism instead of durable quality items, or minimising exposure to especially vulnerable areas of the world to prevent excessive tourism.

One of our core principles is to foster the culture of giving and gifting. By giving first, we foster a culture of kindness and empathy, where members are encouraged to help and support one another without expecting anything in return. This principle not only strengthens the bonds within our community but also encourages others to reciprocate and contribute in their own unique ways. When we give first, we create a ripple effect of goodwill that extends beyond our immediate interactions. It sets a precedent for others to follow, inspiring a chain reaction of generosity and selflessness. By embodying this principle, we create an environment where everyone feels valued and supported, knowing that their contributions are appreciated and reciprocated. Furthermore, giving first allows us to tap into the collective knowledge and experiences of our community members. When we freely share our expertise, insights, and resources, we empower others to learn and grow. This exchange of knowledge not only benefits individuals but also elevates the entire community, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. At Trekslist we’re giving 5% of revenues back to virtual shareholders, while 100% of profits that are not reinvested back into the business are donated to biodiversity conservation efforts.

To enable the transformative change of building a pro-nature community-owned profitable business we rely on the personal involvement of all members contributing in ways that resonate with their capabilities and passions. We champion an environment where every member is empowered to contribute, fostering a sense of ownership and shared purpose. This participatory culture not only enriches our community but also drives our initiatives forward, ensuring that each voice is heard and valued. Through active engagement, we create a dynamic and inclusive space where collaboration and innovation flourish, enabling us to achieve our collective goals and make meaningful progress towards our mission.

Our "We do no harm" principle is a cornerstone of our community ethos, guiding members to interact with respect and consideration. This principle extends to how we communicate, emphasizing empathy and understanding in our exchanges. To uphold this value, we consciously minimize discussions on politics and other polarizing topics, recognizing that such conversations can inadvertently cause distress or division among members. By focusing on constructive and inclusive dialogue, we ensure that our interactions strengthen the fabric of our community, fostering a safe and supportive environment for all. This approach not only protects our members but also preserves the integrity and harmony of our community, allowing us to focus on our shared goals and values.

Our goal is to create an exceptional product for hikers, focusing on an app that delivers essential features with high performance. We prioritize accurate and reliable data, verified through official channels, user insights, and credible third-party sources, ensuring our app meets the practical needs of hikers with precision and integrity.
